Hatha Yoga Teacher Training

OUR MISSION:

"The missions of CMY is to promote the study, practice, and doctrine of yoga and to foster a flourishing yoga community."

The CMY 200 hour professional teacher training program offers instruction in classical Hatha and Iyengar style yoga. Students will learn how proper alignment creates stability, strength & balance.

We will focus on the proper use of yoga props; to help the students practice with ease and without stress or strain. Through the process of yoga training we learn how to incorporate yoga on the mat into the yoga of our daily life. We will learn how postures, meditation, and breathing techniques are rooted in the moral principles.

CMY's Hatha yoga teaching training program is designed to maximize a student’s potential as a yoga teacher while receiving in-depth information and practice in asana, pranayama, and meditation. We will be drawing from anatomy, physiology, traditional yoga philosophy and psychology, to the modern knowledge of the body and mind.

In summary, our program is unique in its integration of all the elements of yoga practice, which when combined will make your life happier, healthier and more productive. "Be the change you want to see in your life. " I look forward to taking this life changing journey with you! Namaste, Lucy

TEACHERS:

Our teacher trainings are co-taught by Lucy Cimini, ERYT, 500hr, founding director of Central Mass Yoga and Wellness, Inc. and Gina Engel, ERYT,500hr. along with a team of teachers and their specialties.

Lucy Cimini , BA, R.Y.T. (500 hour) has a background in Education and Social Rehabilitation with over 20 years of experience teaching therapeutic to advanced yoga classes. She is the founding director of Central Mass Yoga and Wellness, Inc. CMY is one of the most popular and established studios. For the past several years, she has expanded her teaching to include a 200 hr. and 500 hr. Yoga Teacher Training program, recognized by the National Yoga Alliance. She has developed outreach yoga programs for corporate clients, combat veterans (Yoga Warriors International), recovering addicts and prison inmates. She has recently integrated formal instruction on teaching "trauma sensitive" classes to other yoga teachers across the country. Her work has been the subject of many local, national and international yoga and news articles.

Lucy studies with local and internationally known master teachers, but relies strongly on her own personal practice and intuition to influence her teaching. Her teaching incorporates a strong knowledge of alignment and sequencing to ensure safety while allowing students to develop to their full capacity in the posture. She is an initiate in the Tantric tradition of Swami Rama of the Himalayas.

Gina Engel, E.R.Y.T. is a certified yoga instructor and Reiki Master. She began teaching yoga in the mid 90's, but fell in love with yoga as a teenager. Gina continues to be passionate about yoga both as a student and as a teacher. She has studied with many nationally known instructors such as Marshall Govindan, Richard Freeman, David Swenson, Dharma Mittra and Baron Baptiste. Gina prefers the vigorous styles of Power and Ashtanga yoga and is inspired to make these styles accessible to all students. She is an easy going and compassionate instructor who loves sharing humor and the fun of yoga with her students in class.

Gina has studied yoga philosophy extensively and is one of the main presenters in CMYI’s teacher training programs. She enjoys mentoring the new teachers as well as teaching the classical forms of meditation and pranayama in the program.

TESTIMONIALS FROM OUR STUDENTS:

"Having participated in another yoga teacher training a number of years ago, I can honestly say that the CMY training is special in many ways. Lucy keeps the class small, allowing for lots of personal attention and for deep bonds of friendship to develop. She shares the training with many guest teachers who not only offer their expertise on various aspects of yoga, but they also impart their unique perspectives on teaching and practice which serves to enrich the learning process. With her wealth of knowledge and experience, Lucy offers gentle guidance and encouragement, but she also sets high standards for her students, assigning many to books to read, exams to be written and an ongoing home practice journal. The classes are deeply embedded in yoga philosophy and the students are always encouraged to take their practice “off the mat” leading to much personal growth and discovery. I feel incredibly blessed to have had the opportunity to participate in this training. For me it was more than a yoga teacher training, it was a transformational experience." Atta Kurzmann 2009

"In participating in the Central Mass Yoga Teacher Training Program, I have brought my own practice to a higher level than I ever thought possible. The instructors and guest presenters keep the program up-to-date and diverse with their depth of knowledge, insights, and passion of yoga and its application to life. The support and caring of the other teachers-in-training makes us more than just classmates. As we learn about yoga, we are learning about ourselves; we laugh a lot (and sometimes cry) together as friends. The program is a complete training from the inside out and I feel confident now as a teacher of yoga to others." -Sarah Howe (March 2007)

"Going through the teacher training program at CMY has been a life changing experience for me. When I began this journey, I expected that my knowledge of yoga would increase substantially. What has been an unexpected bonus is how much this process has opened my heart and mind as well. I’ve gone from being a student adept at postures and breathing techniques to a soon-to-be teacher with a deeper understanding of what it means to practice yoga." -Beth LaFlamme

"As "a woman of a certain age" whose experience with yoga was mostly home-based, I didn’t quite know what to expect from teacher training at CMY. But from our first class it was evident that Lucy Wagner— CMY’s director—imbued the program with her wisdom and passion for yoga. The learning environment she has created nurtures and supports each of us—students of all ages, levels, and interests. The program is extensive and encourages us to uncover our unique way along the royal path." -Janet Colantuono

"I am so grateful to have chosen CMY’s Teacher Training Program. Through the program, I have come to know some truly incredible people who have touched my life in ways that I cannot begin to explain. The teaching staff is knowledgeable, experienced, and express great compassion for others through their work. Lucy (CMY Director) is radiant, welcoming, generous, and kind. She selflessly shares her wisdom of yoga and love for the practice with her students. Through participation in CMY's Teacher Training Program, I was able to gain an understanding of yoga that is extraordinarily fulfilling, and I’ve learned how to share this with others through teaching. This has been an incredibly rewarding journey for me and I look forward to continuing onward." -Kristen Benoit
