Yoga Warriors International™ Teacher Training This program is open to anyone who is inspired to facilitate healing to those with PTSD or Combat Stress Disorder and to professionals who work with (or would like to work with) active-duty military personnel or veterans. To receive a Yoga Warriors International™ teacher certificate, you must be a yoga teacher certified at the 200 or 500 hour level. Otherwise, you will receive a “certificate of attendance” stating you have attended the training. You can become a certified YWI Yoga teacher within 2 years of taking the training after sending a proof of 200 hr. yoga teacher certification to YWI. Many mental health professionals have found great value in this alternative non-pharmaceutical treatment modality! Prerequisite: A YWI teacher agreement will be sent to each potential Yoga Warriors International™ teacher prior to the training. This agreement must be signed and returned on the first day of your training. The signed teacher agreement and proof of 200 hour teacher training certificate is required before receiving your Yoga Warriors International™ teacher certificate. TRAINING INCLUDES:96 page Manual and YWI Teaching Certificate or Certificate of Attendance 16 CEUs offered by the Yoga Alliance YWI Teacher Annual Dues: $50 payable yearly, at the one year anniversary and each year after. Each year you will receive an email invoice. This will include an updated manual along with a listing on the YWI website
Yoga for Amputees: A Primer for Yoga Teachers, Yoga Practitioners, Amputees and anyone with Marsha Therese DanzigSaturday, September 8th, 7 - 9pm $55.00/$45.00 (see description) In this 2 to 2 ½ hour workshop, you will learn: Types of amputation and reasons for amputation; Basic physical (major muscle groups and nerves affected), psychological and emotional effects of amputation (5 stages of grief); Observation skills for range of motion; Creative visualization- exercises to help amputees; How to safely adapt poses for above , below and upper extremity amputees- A sampler: Standing Pose, Seated Pose, Forward bend, Backbend, Supine, and Prone. Marsha Therese Danzig, Yoga Teacher, RYT 500, M.ed , Founder and Director of Color Me Yoga™ for Children, a yoga school dedicated to bringing hope to children around the globe through yoga . Marsha is a dancer and mover to the core. She has a fearless and abundantly hopeful spirit which infuses her yoga teaching. She is a childhood bone cancer survivor and the first below knee amputee in the country to become a yoga teacher. She is also the first dialysis patient in the country to become a yoga teacher. In 2006 Marsha she received a kidney transplant, making her the first American yoga teacher to do so. She has over 13 years experience as a yoga teacher and yoga teacher trainer, and a lifetime of experience embodying Hope and Possibility. **Students taking the Yoga Warriors Training too can pay a reduced class fee of $45.00
Zentangle - Beyond the Basics3 Thursday sessions, May 17, 24, 31 11am-1pm - 11am - 1pm with Jean Theurkauf Prerequisite: "A Taste of Zentangle" or a beginning Zentangle class offered by a Certified Zentangle Teacher. In this 3 week class, we will delve deeply into the possibilities of the Zentangle Art from. We will learn many, many new and more complex tangles while we explore the possibilities of strings, tangle enhancements, advanced shading techniques, and more. Still working in the traditional black and white style of Zentangle, we will create mosaics, zendalas, and other presentations.
New tangles and tanglations are presented each week. A Materials Fee of $10.00 will be collected by the teacher at the first class. Please bring your Beginning Zentangle Kit. Kids Summer Yoga with Carolyn KogutGirls and boys will have fun learning and practicing classic yoga poses, such as downward dog, tree pose, and cobra pose. They will also learn breathing exercises, relaxation and calming techniques in a playful, non-pressured environment. The class includes games, interactive yoga stories, discussion about healthy choices, and ends with quiet relaxation. Yoga improves strength, flexibility and coordination, as well as concentration skills and confidence. Yoga is a healthy activity that children can do for a lifetime!
